Vincentians offer personal service without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual preference, age, or disability. This may include home visits where two Vincentians make a friendly, neighborly visit to the individual’s or family’s home. Home visits are the sacrament of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and follow the example of Frederic Ozanam and his co-founders of our organization. The Vincentians will set up a time and date that is convenient for our neighbors in need to discuss their request and any other concerns they may have. To set up a time to discuss your needs, please contact us.
Utility Grants for Heating
Many of the St. Vincent de Paul Conferences are collaborating with Superior Watershed Partnership (SWP) on utility grants for heat in the Upper Peninsula. The grants cover electricity, natural gas and deliverable fuels (wood, propane, fuel oil and wood pellets) and are available until the MEAP funds are depleted. Applicants are qualified by income and must have past due accounts or less than 25% of fuel left in the tanks. The grant is for winter bills only and does not cover current bills or recent charges for deliverable fuels. SWP must approve the grant application and authorize payment or delivery of fuel. There are caps to the amount of assistance provided per family and the funds are awarded on a first come first served basis. Please contact your local SVdP Conference to see if you qualify and if funds are still available.
